International Women’s Day: The Women of E-Living

Anyi, Marketing Manager

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

For me, International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate the achievements and the struggles, for women to come together and support each other. I’m honoured and grateful to have the opportunity to work with a strong female community at E-Living who embrace the challenge to fight for a better future.

Who’s an empowering woman in your life and why?

I am lucky to be surrounded by so many inspiring women in my life, but the one I admire the most is my mom. She is the bravest, selfless and hardworking woman I know. Through the ups and downs of life, she always seems to stay positive. I wouldn’t be where I am now if I didn’t have her unconditional love and support.

What’s a piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

Never second guess yourself.

Jane, General Manager

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

It’s celebrating and honouring women who make a difference in this world so it’s a better place

Who’s an empowering woman in your life and why?

My mom taught me that the beauty and strength of an empowered woman is to be a light in a world full of darkness and to make a stand with integrity even if it means to stand alone. I don’t need to have the loudest voice to be heard but instead open my arms to embrace others and show how things should be done out of love & compassion.

What’s a piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

Be kind to yourself and enjoy the journey!

Anne, Senior Operations Associate

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

To celebrate women’s empowerment and to recognise and appreciate women all over the world.

Who’s an empowering woman in your life and why?

My mom and auntie because I’ve seen how strong and tough they both are from handling family finances. They both work so hard, especially my mama who has two children to take care of. Ar work, our General Manager, Jane, and our People & Culture Head, Monica. They are both are so fearless & tough. I love the way they communicate. Obviously, they are both legendary, passionate, dedicated & smart hardworking women whom I both admire.

What’s a piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

I would like to advise myself that I could have been fearless early on. To explore all things so I can see where I can be my best version of myself. Be tough & speak your mind.

Justine, Social Media and Content Manager

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

For me, International Women’s Day means reflecting on what the women before me have achieved, but also acknowledging the disadvantages we still experience because of our gender and looking forward to how we can achieve an equalised existence.

Who’s an empowering woman in your life and why?

My mum and grandmas are massive inspirations to me. Their experiences and the hardships they’ve experience empower me to take on challenges and thrive through them despite the obstacles in my way. They’ve all had their health challenges, with two of them being breast cancer survivors, but seeing their strength has made me realise my own.

What’s a piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

Everything will turn out okay – even when it feels like it won’t. Take a deep breath and trust in yourself because you’re all you’ll ever need to get through the tough chapters in your life.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

Women are consistently fighting for equal rights and celebrating their growth.

Who’s an empowering woman in your life and why?

It would be me when I represent my previous company for the first time. I had to negotiate on several projects with new suppliers. It was the first time I felt girl power so strong in business.

What’s a piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

To 18-year-old me: 1. Be more confident to speak up and trust in your gut feeling, you’ll feel so great; 2. Don’t be afraid to be aggressive with career development, a self-achiever knows the right path; 3. Spending time reading and playing, it’ll always make your life more colourful.
